How does an Active electronic lightning arrester work?
It stores electrostatic energy from storm clouds and releases it at the right moment (detected by the device's own sensors) to reinforce the upward leader, capturing the lightning strike in a controlled way and routing it to the earthing system via the down conductor.
Why is a lightning strike counter required?
Per NFC 17102, the protection system must be inspected after every strike. A counter installed on the down conductor logs each strike so inspection happens on time.
